“Judee created a warm, professional and comfortable environment for our team to focus on our beliefs which will determine our actions; collaboratively developed meeting objectives were clear and concise. Judee chose just the appropriate level of research and participation. Our Retreat has substance so I felt we got to know each other at a deeper level; personal touches and stories to the topics really added clarity. Judee did an outstanding job of facilitating, clearly in control, but able to roll with the group with a nice sense of humor”
– "Our Beliefs Drive What We Think and Do!"
Mercer Island School District Administrative Retreat

“Judee presented data and research that can immediately be translated into action to make an immediate difference. Learning structures were presented that will guide us to immediately help all children make adequate yearly progress regardless of demographics. Data is compelling and can motivate change! Outside expertise is often necessary to get us moving in a focused direction. I left the session with the determination to be a "warm demander!"
– "Getting to AYP…PDQ (pretty darn quick): Case Students of Low Performing Schools That Are No Longer"
Nevada School Administrators Association

“Great information that I can take back to my school and use immediately. Judee expects us to think, reflect, interact with others, and to make a commitment to getting more effective results through collaboration and team building. The information is practical and will work K-12 as well as at the district level. I feel more empowered to go back to my school and make a real difference! I really like it when Judee just talks; she has good things to say! I appreciate all the ideas and especially coming from someone who is directly involved with increasing student achievement.”
– "Team Building…working together for results that matter!"
Project Leadership- WASA

“Dr. Axelsen is very knowledgeable about what it takes to make the changes needed for a school to move forward. I will be asking myself harder questions after this all-day workshop. I found the information on vocabulary in context, classroom-based assessment, homework, problem solving and writing in math very helpful and will share ideas with staff and colleagues.”
– “Increasing Student Achievement in Math”
AWSP Workshop

“I know that students will be more willing to learn if you set clear expectations and that they know you care about them as learners and individuals. I understand better my role in helping change happen to increase student achievement. I was pleasantly surprised at the areas you cover; we received a great deal of new information that I can use now! I agree that we all need to be on the same page with clear expectations . . .What a great LID Day! I will be more intentional and focused . . . anecdotal material showed experience as well as common sense.”
– "Expecting the Best and Getting It!”
Toppenish Middle School

“Very practical and worthwhile…great energy and spirit of beliefs! Great information I can use! Outstanding, again! Wonderful ideas I can take back to staff and implement. It really helps to have specific examples of the theory and research.”
– "Transforming and Shaping School Culture to Increase Student Achievement”
WASA Project Leadership

“The ideas presented are research based, practical and easy to implement i.e. activate prior knowledge so students can make connections to new concepts, asking guided questions, pre reading, during reading, and after reading strategies to increase comprehension, skill grouping for short periods of time, etc. Our Professional Learning Communities will be excellent vehicles for further exploration and implementation of ways to differentiate for students. I loved the idea of having students “show what they know” through use of multiple forms of performance assessment and structured times for reflection and dialogue for both students and staff. I like the many ideas for helping struggling students. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this was not another patented program that I would be forced to adopt; I can really use these ideas and strategies in my classroom to better meet the needs of all my students. I’m very anxious to try many of the ideas you introduced today! I wish I could start over my career knowing what I now know!!”
