“Thank you for helping us become better teachers of reading and to meet the needs of our low achieving students. Judee presented excellent suggestions which I can put to immediate use. This is probably the best staff development session I’ve been to…concise, informative and full of good useful information. Thank you for the help and words of encouragement. We need you back again and again to share your great ideas. You are an inspiration to me!”
– "Increasing Student Achievement in Reading / Literacy"
Ruby Thomas Elementary School, Las Vegas, Nevada

“Today validated my personal biases and beliefs as a teacher. I, too, truly believe we need to teach vocabulary in context, integrate writing into reading and math, and link homework to the next day’s lesson. I want to see if we can use every instructional minute with intentionality and extend our dialogue about SSR. I will now use more questioning strategies with my students and check for student comprehension through the use of multiple forms of graphic organizers. I will explore how to find time to “double dose” for students who are struggling."
– “Best Research Based Practices to Increase Student Achievement”
Daniel Elementary School, Kent School District

"We started the year out on a positive note and with enthusiasm. Besides having fun together as a staff, we stayed focused on increasing student achievement for all students. I loved the opportunity to share in small groups. We need to keep the positive energy going. I feel a sense of enthusiasm from the staff about these new ideas"
– “Creating a School Climate Where Quality Teaching and Learning Matters!”
Cherry Valley Elementary School - Riverview School District

"A well-delivered presentation to a very large group; a successful and dedicated educator. Use of personal experiences with students helped to reinforce the ideas and strategies suggested. Thank you for reinforcing we should never give up trying to help a student, but use problem solving instead . . . an essential skill in today's world!"
– "Dealing With Conflict in Times of Change"
Central 5 Teacher Conference - Saskatchewan, Canada

"Hopefully as a staff we can follow our vision and build on what we have started. I have a new outlook on the importance of vision and how it should drive my actions in the future. Our day together will help all of our attitudes and our ability to work together toward our newly created vision; our vision of the future has really left me thinking. I think we can make it a reality. Our new vision motivates me, lightens me up and makes me glad to be a member of this staff and to spend a Saturday working toward our vision and purpose."
– "Creating our Vision and Purpose as a Total School Community"
Mann Elementary School - Tacoma School District

“This was a very down-to-earth and genuine presentation with examples and modeling of how to put the ideas and strategies into practice. I appreciate the “warm-demander” in Judee; the opportunity to ask questions and hear questions of others is very valuable. Practical information that applies to all school settings is so valuable; the handouts provided will be great to use with staff. This session was perfect timing with what is going on this year. Judee is very knowledgeable and connected well with the audience. She makes you think! The goal of one or more year’s of academic growth for all students is a great reminder of what we are all about."
– "Instructional Leadership in Tough Times"
WASA Summer Conference, Spokane, WA

"This was an excellent session; everything was real-life relevant! Judee challenges us to think and her authenticity and candor is appreciated with practical, useable and down to earth ideas. I also leave invigorated with new ideas for teaching reading. I will use the strategies to make an impact every day with every student!"
– "Everyone a Teacher of Reading"
AWSP Conference

"You have helped us understand how important curriculum mapping is and how essential it is to focus on conceptual teaching. Pre-teaching vocabulary will be essential for us and can be used as a tool for teaching and making connections to background knowledge. Our goal will be to use assessment to drive our instructional design to help students make more than one year’s growth in an academic year."
– "Increasing Student Achievmenet in Math”
Washington State School for the Deaf

“Strategies on how to move students closer to grade level in reading and math can be implemented school wide. The excitement of the journey will be up to us by department and across grade levels. Intentional teaching of reading and direct vocabulary instruction should have an impact as well as using after school programs with a strong academic focus. Further discussion about skill groups for targeted learning for short periods of time can be a focus of our professional collaboration time. You have given us “tons” of strategies and information to use throughout the school year to increase student comprehension in reading. Thanks for the humor and instructional insights that are practical, concrete and vision related. The modeling of strategies and real-life stories helped me to make better connections. Judee is very engaging and reads her audience well."
– "Best Practices to Increase Student Achievement…regardless of demographics"
Quincy High School, Quincy, Washington
